The Internet is loaded with sites that provide financial information designed to help you make better trades. There are plenty of educational sites that will help you interpret the data or news you find and put your stock market education to work.

Take a few minutes and find the best online trading site for your needs. Some sites have more news. Others will get your orders filled quicker or at the lowest price. Other sites have higher fees or are better geared for options trading. Online trading is convenient - you can trade in your pajamas if you like - and simple.

Once you have identified the online trading company you'd like to use, check with the company to learn about how to fund the account. It shouldn't take more than a couple of days to get started if you have the money wired from your bank. It might take longer, depending on the company, if you provide the funds from other means.

The company will send you a form to complete. They'll need your Social Security Number, since all activity will be reported to the government. Most brokerage houses give you the option to trade using a margin account.

You will soon get an e-mail or letter informing you that the account is ready for action. Some companies might even offer a week of free trades as a welcome gift.
