Growing up in a small Louisiana town, BetterTrades founder Freddie Rick was too busy in the family business to learn about the stock market. He had little spare time. Most of it was spent working, although he'd get a couple of hours to spend at the swimming pool once or twice a week.

Freddie Rick grew up loving math; he originally wanted to be a math teacher. He also has the innate ability to take a complicated subject and make it simple, a trait which carries over to BetterTrades and its products and services.

Freddie considers himself a person of belief and bases his life philosophy on principles gleaned from his faith.

"There's no such thing as a new antique," Freddie said. "It all goes back to the original source. It's just finding a different way to present it."
